It’s just possible, you have never heard of Kristina Olsen. Well, if that’s the case, pity you, because Kristina is one of the best singer-songwriters gracing the concert stage, and we can't think of a better performer to kick off our 2005 concert season. | Saturday 5 | ROSS WALDRON - by day, is a meter reader, but at the end of the day, when the sun goes down, Ross is transformed into a guitar virtuoso of the finest calibre. In a perfect world Ross would be touring full time taking his fine original compositions to a worldwide audience, but it is not a perfect world. However, that shouldn't stop you from catching this show at the Centre. |

| Friday 18 | McALPINES
FUSILIERS - McAlpine’s Fusiliers expand upon the traditions of Irish, Australian and American roots music to form their own powerful cocktail of Irish-Bush-Billy. Drawing on such vast influences as The Dubliners, The Clash, Weddings Parties Anything and AC/DC. McAlpine’s Fusiliers songs are honest accounts of love, loss, drink’n till dawn and the odd jailbreak. They are proud to take the gritty brilliance of traditional music to the next generation, exploring roots music and creating their own originals and interpretations of traditional material. Their melody is supplied by Mr Brown on vocals, guitar and bodhran, and Adam Clusker on fiddle and banjo whilst the rhythms that drive the Fusiliers come courtesy of Saun Lachlan on drums, bones and vocals and Ben Henzgen on bass. McAlpine’s Fusiliers have just released a 10 track CD. Supported by Bindi Blacher. |
| Friday 25 | BACKDOOR CAJUN BAND - The Back Door Cajun Band plays fiery Cajun and Zydeco, two-steps and reels, waltzes, blues and a bit of western swing styles. LOUCAS LOIZOU - was born in Cyprus to Greek parents. While on holidays in London in 1974, the Turks invaded Cyprus and occupied his family village in the Northern part of the Island. He suddenly found himself a migrant and refugee without a home. In these concerts titled, A Personal Journey, Loucas explores the impact the invasion has had on his life and music. $12 & $10. | Friday 8 | KEITH DONNELLY (UK) - In the last ten years Keith has played at literally hundreds of festivals, colleges and universities, arts centres and theatres, comedy clubs, in the UK and worldwide. He also runs Storytelling and Music and Song workshops, as well as his now famous annual New Year's Eve Party at Stratford YHA, and works as often as his schedule allows with nursery and primary schools across the country bringing live music and story to preschool children. | Saturday 14 | ZULYA & THE CHILDREN OF THE UNDERGROUND - Multi award-winning ZULYA KAMALOVA is the leading proponent of Tatar music in Australia as well as one of the most versatile and accomplished vocalists on the world music scene today. A native of Volga-Kama region of Central Russia, Zulya began performing Russian and Tatar songs at the age of nine. | Sunday 22 | VIN GARBUTT BENEFIT CONCERT - Vin Garbutt is one of the true legends of the British folk scene. Vin has had to stop touring for the foreseeable future since undergoing heart surgery earlier this year. Adelaide folk stalwart, Derek Moule (who first presented Vin to Adelaide audiences many years ago), is putting together a benefit concert featuring the cream of the Adelaide folk world, including Eric Bogle, Colcannon, Margaret Monks, and Jim Groat.
