presented by the Migrant Resource Centre of South Australia. We are proud to host this vibrant mix of dance cultures from sub-Saharan Africa, with modern global dance influences. Dancers will be supported by the live rhythms of The Nile Band, a blend of traditional and modern African beats. Both groups are made up of African born artists no living in Adelaide. | Friday 24 | HANS THEESSINK - You've heard of 'an American in Paris', but a Dutchman in Vienna - now that's something else entirely. Hans Theessink (pronounced Tay-sink) has dedicated himself, body and soul, to American blues and roots music. Hans did not pick the easiest way to do this, but he has done so with a certain degree of single-mindedness, and that single-mindedness now sees him performing at the SA Folk Centre for the first time. | Saturday 25 | ACOUSTIC EIDOLON - Joe Scott and Hannah Alkire have combined their musical talents to create an exciting new acoustic instrumental sound. Joe plays a custom acoustic guitar with two necks, built exclusively for him. This one-of-a-kind instrument has incredible range and tonal qualities, sounding at times like a piano, dulcimer or beautiful harp. FIDDLERS - an open session on the first Sunday of every month (except
March). Sessions run between 2pm-5pm. MOSAIC - are the latest folk super group headed by Andy Irvine, one of the great Irish musicians. Formed in 2002, Mozaik have wowed audiences across the globe. And it all started while Andy Irvine was driving through New South Wales, and had an idea, “Get a bunch of your favourite musicians together a do a tour of this beautiful country.” This tour is the result of that idea coming to fruition. You'd be a fool to miss it. |

| Saturday 6 | INVENTION IN TIME - are a multi-talented Melbourne based percussion duo who will debut their unique sounds to an Adelaide audience. Kate Adam and Ariel Valant form Invention In Time (IIT). Influenced by world music and jazz, this pair creates intricate soundscape compositions, by combining the instruments marimba and vibraphone. IIT are said to be, ‘mesmerising to watch’, with the ‘dextrous use of eight mallets onto instruments’, ‘darting across and around each other in a game of mallet chasing’, that take the listener on a musical journey. |
