| Pat Ryan
& Ken Howard
"If you want to hear English music pure yet polished, rootsy yet sophisticated, then the duo of Pat Ryan and Ken Howard will connect you with the antecedents of contemporary folk music in an exciting and authentic way."
~ John Munro (Colcannon)
Pat Ryan has been singing in Folk Clubs since she was 15. Over the years, she has been booked at Clubs and Festivals in England and Scotland, including: Sidmouth, Fylde, Towersey, Beverley, Girvan and Irvine. She has appeared on BBC TV and National and Local Radio.
At each Club and Festival she has appeared at, she has received critical acclaim for the quality of her singing and her easy manner with the audience. Pat sings a mixture of traditional material and contemporary songs, with a traditional arrangement.
Pat is accompanied on her bookings, by Ken Howard, who plays Cittern, Bazouki and Guitar. She has always enjoyed playing with other musicians and on her first 2 LPs was backed by Phil Beer, Chris Parkinson, Paul Downs and Chris Pollington and on later recordings by Julie Matthews and Nick Keir of the McCalmans. Pat and Ken were members of the trio Tall Stories, for 6 years.
For 2 years Pat was asked to be Song Director for Sidmouth International Folk Festival, booking all the artists and organising all the concerts and performers.
2002 saw the release of her new solo CD Barefoot Over Stones. She is joined by Nick Keir, Julie Matthews and Bernard Wrigley.
"These two are the "real deal" and they'll make you laugh into the bargain - what more could you
want?"
